THERE'S ALWAYS A SURPRISE OR TWO!

When you visit a bookshop there are always lots of great surprises in store for you - mainly books!

But then quite often you'll find that a bookshop offers other entertainment.  And so it was this cool Winter's morning, that I came across a group of Morris Dancers performing at the small grassed area in front of Rainy Day Books at the Basin Roundabout.

You've got to give credit to Meryll (the proprietor of Rainy Day Books) for coming up with great ideas.  And this certainly was one of them.

The rain stayed away, which is saying something, taking into account that June thus far has been one of the wettest months on record.

Did the Morris Dancers in fact frighten away the rain?  Who can say?  Whatever - the music, the tempo, the swirling dancers in their colourful costumes, with squeeze box, flute, whistles and bells ringing, certainly brightened up what could have been a grey morning.   And the small crowd loved it!!
